Details of the 2025 May ANTs Trail Horse Challenge
The Trail Horse Challenge consists of 3 events:
Trail Obstacles,
a Hack Pattern, and
a Keyhole.
You are invited to participate with one or 2 horses and can ride AND/OR compete online.
Novice or Open Classes
To make it fair, we're offering a Novice or an Open Class. If you nominate a horse in the Novice Horse section, it cannot compete in the Open section. Similarly, an Open Horse cannot compete in the Novice Horse section however you can compete in both Ridden and Online with the same horse if you wish.
Judges:
Obstacle Course: Louise Hillman
Keyhole and Hack Pattern: Jim Mitchell
Both of your judges will be focussing on assessing your relationship over and above achieving the obstacles. They will be evaluating the following:
Confidence (20) | Relaxation (20) / Connection (20) / Turnout (20)
with Each Obstacle’s total score of 10 (10 x 12 obstacles) (120)
Maximum potential score of 200
There is a $20 entry fee per horse for the day.
You will be able to nominate yourself and your horse shortly with full instructions coming soon.
Nominations will be closing on Monday 26th May 2025!
There are 2 categories, each with a Ridden and Lead (online) component. You may choose to do both components, or just the one.
Below is an example of instructions for competing in the Novice Horse Lead category of the Obstacle Challenge. More information on the Keyhole and Hack patterns will be available later this week.
Details for nominating will be available shortly.
